Our client - a US-based hardware development company that is working on DefenseTech projects in a newly created Ukraine affiliate company is looking for a Lead Financial Controller to join their team.

About the Role

This role requires a professional capable of organising and managing cost accounting for a multi-product manufacturing entity, managing payments to the governmental tax system, and handling financial operations.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of accounting, including payroll, invoicing, cost accounting and financial reporting together with external service providers.
• Develop and enforce internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
• Hiring and management of a team of 1 or 2 people.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation compliant with legal regulations.
• Collaborate with external auditors and financial consultants as needed.
• Provide strategic insights based on financial analysis to support business decision-making.
• Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation in Ukraine.
• Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.

Main Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting.
• Knowledge of Ukrainian tax law.
• Proficient in accounting software and Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Fluent in Ukrainian and English, both verbal and written.

Would Be a Plus

• Previous experience within a Big4 company.
• Background with manufacturing companies.
• Experience with managing outsourced activities such as external accounting / audit / payroll service providers.
• Accounting or finance certifications such as CPA or equivalent.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
