Our client -  one of Azerbaijan's leading corporate banks is looking for experienced Head of Data Governance to join their team in Baku (Azerbaijan). 

THE ROLE: Head of Data Governance is a Senior Manager who will establish and oversee the development and implementation of the Data Governance project, organizational roles, policies and processes to ensure the accuracy of enterprise data throughout the end-to-end data lifecycle. He/She will manage the development and maintenance of data management standards and provide oversight of data activities across lines of business within the scope of the Data Governance team.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:

• Education: Master’s degree in Information Technology or Data Science.
• Work experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience working within an information or data governance setting. At least 3 years in a data management role in Finance/IT or Operations.
• License / Certificate: CDMP, DGSP or CIMP preferred.
• Foreign Language: English (fluent). Knowledge of Turkish or Russian language is an advantage.
• Computer Skills: Data Governance and BI tools (such as SSIS, SSAS or SSRS). 
• Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and a solid understanding of Data Management frameworks is preferred.
• Base knowledge of data management practices (data quality, metadata management, data security/privacy and master data management).
• An understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to data governance.
• Solid understanding of Agile methodology.
• Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial and accountancy terminology.
• Market Knowledge: Knowledge of the Azerbaijani or regional financial sector.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to communicate at a technical level and to non-technical end-users.
• Proven ability to create clear requirements, specifications and documentation.
• Proven leadership experience leading and developing team members to achieve strategic objectives.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage conflicts.
• Ability to work with staff with various professional backgrounds (IT and Business) and leading inter-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to present complex information at the highest levels within the organization effectively.
• Experience of requirements gathering for a data warehouse or similar data systems.
• A good understanding of information management practices including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management and carrying out business audits and requirements gathering.
• Experience in using Data Governance and BI tools, such as: SSIS, SSAS or SSRS.
• Experience in establishing and leading data governance program.
• Experience working within the information/records management discipline.
• Understanding of the principles of IT security and data protection.
• Exposure to local and regional legal compliance, data privacy and risk management processes and procedures.
• Experience with large scale data programs or solutions.
• Experience developing and maintaining data catalogs.
