- Position
- Senior FPGA / SoC engineer, AMD Zynq, video processing
- Location
- Kyiv, Ukraine
- Qualifications
- 10+ years of FPGA design across specialised hardware projects. Current work is digital backend IC design for motor-control devices: clock-tree synthesis, timing closure and logic-equivalence checking. The most relevant FPGA programme was a multifunction chip-test system for the factory floor, measuring voltage, current, timing, data transfer and protocol behaviour. Used Xilinx and AMD Zynq with Vivado on that project, with additional experience in Vitis and HLS.
- Tooling and bench
- AMD Zynq, Xilinx, Vivado, Vitis, HLS and VHDL. Keeps the Xilinx toolchain current through regular hands-on laboratory teaching alongside engineering work; the teaching commitment is part-time and outside normal working hours.
- Languages
- English B2–C1, fluent communication.
- Notice period
- 2 weeks · not actively searching; would move for the right technical scope
- Gaps &
constraints - Has never worked with video devices or cameras; FPGA and Zynq experience does not establish video-processing experience.
- Not actively looking. May decline a move if the tasks are not sufficiently interesting; the technical scope matters more than the job title.

“They acted fast and managed to get us quality technology candidates excited to work for us in record time.
Skillers acted professionally, diligently and flexibly along the way and were patient with some of our internal bureaucracies we needed to sort out in order to move the process forward.
We are very grateful to Skillers for this and definitely recommend them to other organizations looking to recruit technology candidates in Ukraine.”

Senior GIS Officer, The HALO Trust
- Position
- Electronics design engineer, PCB
- Location
- Lviv, Ukraine · remote only
- Qualifications
- 30+ years in PCB design and complex electronics, spanning networking, automotive battery management, power control and analogue-to-digital conversion. Designed 8–16-layer boards and high-speed interfaces, particularly DDR3. Relevant work includes a 256-channel ADC with FPGA for radar and a camera/AI product for estimating an object’s weight. Worked directly with EMI laboratories to certify measurement devices, rather than handing off the design before validation.
- Tooling and bench
- Altium Designer is the preferred CAD system; also experienced with KiCad, Cadence and OrCAD. Covers the full path from concept and schematics through PCB design, EMI certification and manufacturing support. Interested in non-standard engineering problems and defense-tech projects.
- Languages
- English A2: can read technical specifications, but cannot converse freely.
- Notice period
- 4 weeks · remote work with short business trips
- Gaps &
constraints - ✕A2 spoken English: an English-only technical team would need to account for the communication gap. Technical reading is stronger.
- ✕Will not relocate. Available for remote work and short business trips only; a regular on-site requirement would not fit.
- Position
- Linux kernel engineer, embedded
- Location
- Warsaw, Poland
- Qualifications
- 6+ years of embedded software development. Current work covers firmware for video-streaming, IoT and security products on Qualcomm platforms and microcontrollers, including optimisation of computing resources. Earlier work involved Linux kernel driver development and integration, component testing and Wi-Fi chip firmware. On a networking-device programme, owned both the Wi-Fi chip driver and the microcontroller firmware, alongside custom Linux builds.
- Tooling and bench
- Linux kernel, Yocto, custom Linux distributions, FreeRTOS, microcontrollers and device drivers. Camera work includes connected doorbells and residential cameras with day/night modes, but not the firmware responsible for thermal imaging. Explains complex topics clearly and is interested in mentoring less experienced engineers.
- Languages
- English B2, fluent communication.
- Notice period
- 2–3 weeks · business trips are acceptable
- Gaps &
constraints - ✕No experience with AMD Zynq or PetaLinux.
- ✕Has not worked with the Xilinx toolchain.
- ✕No OpenCV experience; camera firmware work should not be read as computer-vision experience.
- ✕Would need ramp-up time on unfamiliar platforms and technologies.
- Position
- Lead mechanical design engineer, SolidWorks
- Location
- Munich, Germany
- Qualifications
- 10+ years of mechanical design, including FPV UAVs, multicopters, cargo drones carrying payloads of several hundred kilograms and injection-moulded electronic enclosures. Works with tight PCB/electronics packaging, metal structures, complex surfaces and DFM/DFA. Led a team of more than ten engineers and advised smaller engineering teams, with responsibility for mentoring, technical interviews, design reviews and standardising documentation. Has aligned engineering and manufacturing teams on complex products with demanding electronics integration.
- Tooling and bench
- Advanced SolidWorks, including Simulation, Flow and PDM; also Creo, Inventor, CATIA and AutoCAD. Produces drawings and BOMs and works through production constraints with electronics and manufacturing specialists. Strongest interest is in complex, system-level development challenges and direct involvement in the design.
- Languages
- English B2, upper-intermediate.
- Notice period
- 1 month preferred to finish current tasks; contractual notice is 2 weeks
- Gaps &
constraints - ✕Recent responsibilities are mainly mentoring and organisational work, rather than hands-on engineering. Wants to return to deeper design work; a predominantly people-management role would not address the reason for moving.
- Position
- Engineering manager, hardware and embedded programmes
- Location
- Prague, Czechia
- Qualifications
- 5+ years managing engineering processes and projects, after earlier work as an engineer and development lead. Led two laboratories with several dozen engineers on safety-automation systems for domestic and European markets. Now coordinates hardware/software training systems combining STM32, Raspberry Pi, embedded software and a desktop application. Programme scope covers around 40 contributors, who are not all direct reports. Engineering background includes systems design, architecture and taking products from concept through manufacture and release.
- Project detail
- Usually reports to a CTO or technical director. Has run both short projects and larger multidisciplinary programmes. Helps teams resolve blocking technical and organisational issues so development can continue. Communicates reasoning clearly and in detail, and prefers staying close to the engineering team over frequent travel.
- Languages
- English B1: conversational, but out of practice and with noticeable vocabulary gaps.
- Notice period
- 2 weeks · occasional trips preferred, ideally no more than 10% of working time; this is a preference, not a firm limit
- Gaps &
constraints - ✕Does not write C/C++; engineering management experience should not be mistaken for hands-on embedded programming.
- ✕No hands-on FPGA engineering. Understands the domain but has not personally done FPGA development.

Aviation or drone-production experience was non-negotiable. Most mechanical specialists around Poland sit in civilian vehicle production, which keeps the genuinely relevant pool narrow.
Searched all of Europe with priority around Poland. The first suitable engineer surfaced on day two; the hire came out of that first wave.
The candidate completed the interviews quickly. The offer was extended approximately four months after the search began, following internal decisions at the client.

Someone to lead engineering teams with real depth in hardware, embedded and R&D. A hybrid role in Kyiv, with regular involvement in R&D activities.
Two candidates drew serious interest. The hired candidate had limited embedded experience and no startup background, which the client considered during the selection process.
The candidate adapted quickly and integrated well, and the client was fully satisfied.

An engineer who could take GNSS and INS systems to large industrial buyers: gyroscopes, satellites and the physics under them, plus Python or MATLAB and strong English alongside Ukrainian.
On day 16 we surfaced a non-obvious candidate: the co-founder of a global-navigation business whose own company had been hit by the war, open to a full-time role.
The candidate started work on day 27, eleven days after being identified.

One engineer had to cover both circuit design and PCB layout in Altium Designer. Finding both competencies at the required level made the search particularly narrow.
Kyiv was the preference, but the local pool at that level proved shallow, so we expanded the search geography.
The engineer we found lives in another city; the technical fit was strong enough that the client moved to a remote model for him. He is working remotely and performing.

Hands-on solid-propellant rocket motor experience, opened at the end of 2024. The number of specialists with the required experience in Ukraine was extremely limited.
The limited local pool led us to expand the search into Poland and the rest of Europe.
Employment constraints meant only one could relocate. Closed on day 277. The search required an unusually narrow skill set and a workable relocation route.

One of two production leadership seats at the same manufacturer. A thin pool, heavy competition, an English requirement, and confidentiality limits that stopped us telling candidates the whole story upfront.
Inbound flow was mostly irrelevant, so we sourced across adjacent industries and combined direct and indirect approaches.
Presented on day 12, filled in 40 days, with confidentiality requirements shaping the search.

A second production leadership role with similar constraints: a shallow pool, an English requirement, and confidentiality requirements that limited what could initially be shared.
Rather than wait for the right applicant to arrive, we sourced across adjacent industries.
Presented on day 18, filled on day 65.

The initial requirements and feedback on candidates did not align. Candidates were also being interviewed without the hiring manager.
We worked with the client to refine the requirements and candidate review process.
The candidate started on day 55. Although the profile differed from the original brief, regular feedback helped clarify which experience mattered most.

“Skillers is a recruitment partner we trust. The team understands our business in depth and knows exactly what we need.
The entire process, from the first briefing to the specialist’s first day at work, is run in a coordinated, professional way.
We value the partnership approach and confidently recommend Skillers to anyone looking for a reliable and effective partner in recruitment.”
